This and That

I have such an exciting life.  Or not.  Here I am at 1:30 am sitting in my recliner while the little rug rats are playing.  Why am I up at this hour?  Well, it seems I fell asleep and missed the feeding that should have taken place a few hours ago.  After they are fed, I let them run and play for a bit before putting them to bed for the night.  I hope they will get used to the solid food soon and we can slack off on the bottle feedings.

We had a nice weekend and our daughter had a lovely birthday weekend, too.  Thank you so much for all the sweet comments.

As all weekends do, it passed by way too quickly.  One evening, BG and I drove to a nearby river town to take a look at the rain-swollen Missouri river.

We have had plenty of rain, but nothing like what part of the country has experienced.  And my heart goes out to those who are dealing with flooding and loss of lives and homes.

My hubby and I went to the Big Town yesterday for his appointment with the heart doctor.  He said BG was doing good and that was wonderful news.  We celebrated by going to Home Depot and WalMart before going home.  Ha!  I had the bright idea to paint some terra cotta pots for several houseplants that need potting, but I had a change of heart.  I just didn't find time for that project and I don't know why I thought I needed yet another job in the first place.  So back to the stores we went to return the pots and paint.

I've been pondering yet again whether to give up blogging...at least for a season.  Life has just been too busy to do all the visiting I'd like to do and I feel bad about that.  I do love blogging as I've said many times.  So while I'm pondering, I do want all my friends to know that I appreciate each and every comment and I think of all of you often even if I haven't been able to visit as often as I'd like to.

Happy Thursday to you!
xo Cheryl

  1. Hello Cheryl, Your flowers are lovely. And the river view is pretty, but these floods sound so scary. I feel sorry for all those that have been affected with the loss of lives, homes and cars. I hope you do not give up blogging all together and maybe just take a break. Enjoy your day!

Your photos are always so nice!
I know how you feel about leaving blogging, I wrestled with it myself.
You might just need a break. I didn't blog much all last winter and the break helped
me decide whether I was going to quit or continue blogging.

  4. Happy for a good report from your husband's doctor...that is always welcome news! And, of course, I am always glad for a kitten update. It sounds like they continue to thrive. You'll probably thrive more after they are weaned from round-the-clock bottle feeding! :)

Take a break!! Blogging should be about expression and friendship and joy, not compulsion! Talk when you want to...visit when you can...comment when you have time and something to say. Sometimes I think we put too much pressure on ourselves. (I am including myself in that "we" part.)

  5. Oh- I hear you, Cheryl. I took last summer off to enjoy my family and it was just wonderful. After blogging for 5 years or so I just felt like I needed an extended break and I came back refreshed and renewed.
I have WAY too many projects waiting on me, too. lol Such is life! xo Diana
ps---don't GO before you give us more "kittyshots". xo Diana

  6. Hi Cheryl!

I have a love for Petunias, yours are so pretty - such a deep red, very pretty!

Good reports are wonderful, especially when it comes to health - I'm so happy to hear that everything is well with him. Since my husband retired, I'm finding that we are way more conscious about our health. We are not health freaks, but we are just trying to eat better, eat less, and move a little more . . . we are working on it, not always accomplishing it!

Babies, no matter what they look like, are a lot of work, but well worth it! It won't be long, and they will be big . . . just like children . . . :0)

Your pictures are amazing - the clouds look beautiful, the river looks scary - my goodness it's so high! We have just been socked in with rain. In fact, it woke me up this morning, just pouring down on my roof! But, my house is dry and my family is safe. So sad for so many in our country, who are struggling and have lost so much!

BLOGGING! You know how many breaks I have taken! I consider my blog as a journal. It is hard to find time to write something, and commenting is sometimes hit and miss, but I seem to always come back to it. I figure it would be just as time consuming to write in a journal, and this is more fun! I have made what I consider, some good friends blogging. Even though I have never met you, I consider you a friend, and I would miss you! I agree with the other, Cheryl, we put too much pressure on ourselves to comment on every blog on our list. I guess it's all about finding balance . . . I would miss you . . . :0(

    Hugs,
    Barb

  7. Your flowers are pretty. I don't envy you the middle of the night feedings..I have so much trouble sleeping that if I had to get up on purpose I would probably be up all night, every night. I agree with Barb above..my blog is my journal, photos and all...if I have to skip a week or so, or even more it's perfectly ok. I would miss you if you quit, also.

  8. Great spring flower shots. Sometimes blogging can just get in the way of life. I find that I have to take a few days off just to get caught up on things I've ignored.

  9. I know how you feel about the blogging. I haven't had time to visit everyone, and when you do that nobody visits you. Kinda seems like a blog in futility. BUT, I don't blog to have people visit I just love to keep a record of what I do, so I guess I'll keep plugging away. You are so awesome to take care of those kittens the way you do.

  11. Lovely photos...gorgeous blooms and great cloud shots! Great to hear the good medical report too! I don't think any of us need to have any pressure put on us about blogging. I say everyone will understand if and when you take a break but will welcome you back with open arms when you return! I do appreciate your dedication to those sweet babies :)

  12. That's the ongoing dilemma with regard to blogging. Every blogger makes an individual decision. Personally, I wish we could all blog daily and have lots of blog fodder and new projects...not.realistic.at.all. Only in some fairy tale, which, of course, is what Blogdom has been for so many of us. Whatever you need to do, I support!

  13. "It's your blog and you can blog when you want to", to paraphrase Leslie Gore. Hope you don't quit but understand how it can get worry some. I'm down to once a week and even that is optional. Hope your babies are weaned soon.

  16. Bet those sweet little rug rats are growing in leaps and bounds. So sad about all the flooding and the victims of it. Blogging takes a lot of time it's true. Whatever you decide has to be what works best for you and your schedule. I had to take a couple days off because of everything going on here. My birthday is Saturday and I'm exhausted.

  18. Hey there......I'm trying to catch up with all my reading!! Gorgeous blooms and I do love the red petunias....
goodness...there is water everywhere. That river really is swollen...great photo of the bridge. I can sympathize with you about trying to decide what to do about blogging. Seems like this entire year has been a year of total busyness. I've been able to post about once or twice a week and that is it. I need a break....but I miss my blogging friends..... so the question still remains...as to what to do. Just don't take a permanent break!!!! Enjoy the weekend

  20. I have been "pondering" as well . . ,
Not keeping up really bothers me . . . Creating, writing, photos, reading, commenting . . .
Not sure how everyone does it all consistently . . .

  21. Glad to hear BG had a good report! I am always pondering giving up blogging, but I would miss visiting and commenting. I have found that Instagram seems to help me with still being able to click a picture and 'like' someone else's picture. If I want to say something, I do. I think you would like Instagram Cheryl and then we could still see your lovely pictures and keep up with you. All it takes is clicking a picture and sharing. Very quick process! Don't know about you, but I think we need a bit of a break from the rain! My potted plants are floating! Can't complain because I don't want another summer of no rain! Enjoy your weekend, Cheryl!

  22. Those little kittens don't know how lucky they are!
Your photos are so very clear and pretty. Love the flowers and the river and sky pictures.
I often dream up something I want to make and usually decide I would not like the end result anyway! lol
I hope you'll continue to blog. Take a break when necessary and visit when you can. We all understand. God bless your weekend.

  23. All these photos are spectacular. Just so lovely and I love that you live near enough to the Missouri river to take these awesome pictures. I think you are so wonderful to have cared so tenderly for those little kittens.
I have felt the same way about blogging; but I must say I hope you keep posting. I love your thoughts and pictures. I keep telling myself that if I do shorter posts it won't take so much time. I also have been trying to only reading a few posts a day; so it hasn't taken so long.
Just know you are one of my favorite blog posts to read. Sending love and hugs your way!

  24. So the kitties are doing well, how old are they now? I can understand your eagerness to have them on solid food, a good nights sleep is wonderful.

Take a blogging break, or maybe just post less, see if that helps, and if it still feels overwhelming then take longer...summer time is a difficult time to get everything done, and a lot of bloggers return in September. Just something to consider...

  27. LOve all your photos, Cheryl, I too find it hard at times to blog regularly as I am so busy, I truly enjoy, blogging and I am so thankful for all the friends I have made, (you being one).
I am so glad your dh had a good report! he has to be in great shape to climb those poles. ~smile~
I would miss you if you stopped blogging, and hope you decide to stay, but we al must do what is best for us!.

  28. I have considered giving up blogging...seems like I go through that more often that I want. I don't even visit a lot of people, but it does take time. I guess I will plod along a while longer...

Glad BG got a good report at the doctor's appt.

  29. You are such a wonderful kitty mama! I know what you mean about not needing one more project. My summer to-do list is already a mile long. Sometimes it seems like all I do is spin my wheels and not get much accomplished! I hope you don't give up blogging, but I know sometimes we have to take a break.

  30. As you can see by the date of this comment, Cheryl, I too fall behind in blog reading and commenting. First, glad to read about the good dr visit, always welcome news. Those kittens are really lucky to have had you find them and they surely love you back. It is tragic about the over abundance of rain in one part of the country and drought in other places. Blogging takes time it's true, not only to post but then to read comments and to visit other blogs. I too enjoy it, but like you said Cheryl, life does get busy so we all do what we can, when we can and others should and often do understand.
