There is something I always seem to have to learn the hard way every spring. And that is don't sit on your derriere all winter long and then fly into a cleaning and planting frenzy and not expect to hurt all over. Ouch! Ow! Arrggh! Where's the Advil?
The new entertainment center and mattress arrived Saturday. Oh, I really love that comfy pillowtop mattress! Of course, being the procrastinator that I am, I waited until Friday to do most of the cleaning in the bedroom where the new mattress was to go. I store stuff under the bed, doesn't everyone? And that stuff had to be moved. Dust bunnies had to be rounded up. The closet which didn't need to be opened even got cleaned out again. How does it get so cluttered anyway? The essentials were at least done by the time of the delivery. More needs to be done yet, but now is the time for some outdoor work.
It started to sprinkle today so that was enough to send me back into the house to do a little laundry, load the dishwasher and give the kitties some attention. I will try to get more planting done tomorrow.
I just wanted to check in this evening to say that I am still here even though I haven't been able to visit or blog much lately. Unless the weather changes, I will be working in flower gardens and planting my flower pots for the back patio. The front patio planting is done and looks nice, if you overlook all the seeds falling from the maple tree. I'll take a photo as soon as we get the window painted. The window needs replacing, but that is one of those things that gets pushed to the bottom of the list.
We haven't forgotten The Project. We're still awaiting someone to remodel the bathroom and a few other things before we get back to doing what we can do there. It's too hard to find the right people for certain jobs around our small community.
Hope your week is a good one! I'll be by to visit as soon as I can.
Happy Monday to you!
xo Cheryl
happy gardening! your first photo and effect look like a great fabric print. :)
ReplyDeleteWe have so many projects going on inside and out now, too! I went to the garden center today and got some annuals and a few spinach/lettuce plants...got to get those planted. Porch and front door need painting. Mulch needs spreading. Weeds need pulling. And we're working on our bedroom starting next week, too. We have a huge bookcase headboard and it's being picked up by a resale shop (we tried to sell it; no takers) and then we're getting a new mattress. Then we need to paint our room, pull up the carpet, and have hardwood floors put in. Then total redecorating!
ReplyDeleteI hear you, Cheryl. I always overdo it, too, and then wonder why I am so miserable! lol
ReplyDeleteGlad you like your new mattress and that it is comfortable for you. Dust bunnies are banished from there now! lol
Hope you have a good week. I think we visit when and as we can- xo Diana
Cheryl, Your flowers are so pretty. It feels good to be planting them, doesn't it. It is raining here, well kind of stormy. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteYour flowers look gorgeous! Isn't it nice to be able to go out and enjoy the outside?
ReplyDeleteJudy
Take your time, we'll still be here. You purple pansy shot is beyond terrific!! And I like your yellow edit too. Those are my favorites.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you have gotten a lot accomplished, despite procrastination and winter-weary muscles! Enjoy your planting (and your Advil). :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers. I love the Petunias, they remind me of my Mom. She wasn't much into flowers, but had to have her Petunias every year.
ReplyDeleteOh those blooms are gorgeous! That purple one, looks like velvet! Great post!
ReplyDeleteWe need a new mattress so badly...I'm envious!
ReplyDeletePretty. pretty flowers. Just bought a few today for pots. I have to take it slow, I don't want them to wilt while I fiddle along! :)

Gorgeous blooms. I did a lot of gardening yesterday myself. Planted sweetpea and am hoping that in the summber they will be a lovely smell.
ReplyDeleteOh gardening is much more fun then tackling dust bunnies under a bed. Enjoy. Great shots. Hug B
ReplyDeleteI do that ouch routine every year. Thank goodness the pains eventually ease. It just takes longer each year. You would think I would learn. Enjoy that new bed--sounds delightful.
ReplyDeletei thought you were away trying to finish the project.. now we know it is still on The List... woo hoo on the new mattress and what i want to know is why a closet that is rarely used and the dust just falls on everything in it.
ReplyDeleteand we are breathing all this dust and don't even know it.. if it falls on the shoudlers of the clothing it sure falls on us. love the flowers and keep planting. my drug of choice is Aleve and i need it when I clean out closets or just washing down kitchen cabinets.
Morning, love the flowers, I am so itching to get out in the gardens.Blessings Francine.
ReplyDeleteIt seems one project always leads to another doesn't it? We can't buy or put in annuals here for a few more weeks. We could still get a cold snap and even snow flurries before June! I'm looking forward to gardening season. Enjoy but take it easy.
ReplyDeleteWell first let me say that I'm glad to here there are others out there like me...yes, I am the world's worse procrastinator...and YES, I store things under my bed where the dust bunnies live...lol! Most of my planting is finished although I need to move some sunflower sprouts to where they will hopefully live the rest of the summer. The squirrels dug up and ate many of the my seeds but there are still several they didn't get to. Now, all they need to do is GROW :)
ReplyDeleteThere always seems to be so much to do when the warm weather arrives and sometimes we forget that we aren't as young as we used to be. Have fun out in the garden. xo Laura
ReplyDeleteHappy Monday past and now Happy Tuesday and happy gardening days . . .
ReplyDeleteIt is where you will find me too . . . Happy and playing with the plants and flowers!
It is hard not to overdo at this time of year when there seems to be so much that has to be done. It sounds like you are making good progress and your flowers look beautiful. If it makes you feel any better, I haven't planted a single flower yet. Talk about procrastinating :/,
ReplyDeleteSo glad that you have that comfy bed to sink into after these days of yardwork. It is so true that there is much to be done at this time of the year. No need to visit me, Cheryl. I'm too busy to blog.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about finding people to work for you (even when you pay well) in a small community. I live seven miles from the nearest town which is under a thousand people. It seems to cost a fortune to find anyone to come way out here for any kind of repair, building, etc. We do have one repairman but since he seems to do everything, plumbing, septic systems, air conditioning and heating, you name it, he is in great demand and charges an arm and a leg. And secondly, spring is just too short. By the time you get really engulfed in your cleaning, outdoor gardening, it seems that summer is upon us and then it's so hot who wants to go outside! Good luck. I hope you get more accomplished than I have!
ReplyDeleteI loved your beautiful pictures. I did manage to plant some tomatoes yesterday and got all out patio furniture out. My back was aching so I know how you feel. I need a new mattress bad; so I must look into it. What kind did you get? I hope to get some flowers planted soon too. It keeps raining here and we need it. However, I haven't managed to get it done during the lulls. It looks like you are going to be busy and I should be too. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos, Cheryl! Yes, this is a busy time of year... in the Advil bottle kind of way... but, all good! blessings ~ tanna
ReplyDeleteYea! so glad your new stuff came in! those pillow top mattresses are so comfortable...I love ours! The flowers are so pretty ....I love having a yard full of blooms, but I never look forward to the planting job. Hope your soreness goes away...soon!
ReplyDeleteWhat pretty flowers. Have fun in your garden. Your new entertainment center and mattress sound divine. ENJOY!
ReplyDeleteCheryl, I love all your photos of course!! Your bedroom sounds so much like mine and probably everyone else's....lol glad you're enjoying your new mattress!
ReplyDeleteBlessings
Gert

ReplyDeletespring is so fun. i planted a bunch on our deck to enjoy. red and white petunias. they are so lovely. usually last a long time. even though rain and windy times.
ahhh, everything is so pretty. Going today for plants for pots going outside.
ReplyDeletewe have a pillow top, but I want a memory foam top mattress, not just a topper. my parents bought one for their bedroom here in my home and I want to sleep on it every night...so comfy! maybe I'll get one for Christmas. :) your blooms are pretty! I sat on my butt all winter and now I'm 8 lbs heavier!!! I'm not use to such a long winter having moved from Florida. lol It seems I clean out my closet monthly and it just becomes a mess again and again. hubby says it's my bags and flip flop/sandals...what's her trying to say?!
ReplyDeletehugs to you, Cheryl!
Marie
Yay! So happy for you to have the new mattress and entertainment center. It's always fun to get new stuff :)
ReplyDeleteWe don't store anything under our bed now, although we used to at the homestead. We were so short of storage space at the homestead, that every nook and cranny stored something **smile**.
Lovely flowers. It's so much fun to get new flowers planted this time of year, and see the perennials coming back to life again.
Have a wonderful Mother's day, and a great weekend!!
~K.
Advil is my friend...we still have frost at night, no planting here unless yopu want to replant. Your petunias will be lovely yellow and purple go together so well:)
ReplyDeleteHi Cheryl!
ReplyDeleteI love your pictures! Oh, there's nothing like a nice new bed . . . if it's the right one! I hope you sleep like a baby on it! It sounds like you are having a busy Spring - remodeling can be so much fun, and it's always nice to have a change.
Have an amazing Mother's Day sweet friend!
Hugs,
Barb
The flowers are beautiful, Cheryl, and like you I have been so busy, both outside and inside! Wishing you a very blessed and Happy Mother's Day!

Beautiful flowers! I worked out in the yard yesterday mowing and planting so I hear you on the Advil :)
ReplyDeleteI've been off and on blogging too. Just busy.
ReplyDeleteIt's been wet all weekend here. The petunia's will have to wait.
