My day started very early yesterday with this little munchkin biting on my toes at 4:30 am. She then walked up to my arm, purring loudly all the while, and bit it! I tried to go back to sleep, but I was too annoyed by the little toe-biting bandit who woke me up, so I got up and started my day. I first sat down at the computer to read a few blogs and just happened to click on one that I hadn't read before and found a curious statement by a blogger who shall remain nameless. She stated that one thing you should never do while blogging is to show photos of your cats. Huh? I thought surely she's just joking so I reread the post and, sure enough, there wasn't a glimmer of humor to be found anywhere. She was serious. Well, I guess I've been going about blogging all wrong. I mean, who knew? I post photos of my cats, as well as birds and any other animals I think are photo worthy. I wanted to write a comment and ask her if she'd ever heard of a certain red-haired woman who lives on a big ranch that we all know, who regularly shows photos of her dogs, cats, horses, and cattle. But I refrained from saying anything at all. Everyone has their own style of blogging and blog for different reasons. But I must say, that comment had me scratching my head. Now, let's fast forward to the flea market.
After my hair appointment yesterday, I stopped by a flea market where I found this wall shelf and thought about buying it, but didn't. And it was only 16 dollars! After thinking it over, I think might go back and grab it before someone else spots it. If it's gone, then I'll tell myself I wasn't meant to have it! If I get it, I'm thinking about painting it white and then sanding the edges to let the darker wood show. What do you think? Would you paint it? Another color I thought might look good is red. I love red.
About the doctor's orders, when I went in for my blood work the other day, I was sure that I'd gained several pounds this winter, but the doctor told me I'd only put on half a pound. I told her that the scales must be malfunctioning because I certainly felt fluffier around the middle. She asked if I were getting any exercise and I said, "Are you kidding? You know how cold it's been!" She wasn't too sympathetic to that remark and suggested that I walk at least twice a day for a few minutes to start. I then told her that I'd just walked for several hours browsing around some antique malls. She was impressed and thought that I should do it more often! So, I'm just following doctor's orders when you read about my antique/flea market visits!
After the long day, I fixed a simple meal of hamburgers and chips followed by ice cream floats made with Dairy Queen ice cream and Pepsi. Yum, yum! Not exactly health food, but it was quick, easy and good!
Until next time...

Your kitty is cute. I do not understand why you shouldn't post your kitty photos. The shelf is pretty and would look great painted white. I need to start walking more too, I wish it was warmer. Have a happy day!
ReplyDeletefrom my understanding you should always blog about what you love & enjoy! so keep doing it & enjoy it!! why not? seems silly not to share??! oh well - as they say too each his own. i am giggling at your & trying to sleep. i have heard many tales from a friend who has 2 cat herself. i wonder how you guys sleep at all??! ha. ha!! ( :
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine why anyone would say something like that...the person apparently doesn't understand what bogging is all about...sharing our world with others. My world includes a cat- for others it's a dog, or pot bellied pig, or goats, or chickens...
ReplyDeleteCan't imagine anyone saying that about cats. I have certainly done my share of Mighty Dog and Minnie posts. I gravitate to those who love pets.
ReplyDeleteLucky you, you just got a doctor's prescription to shop.
Well all I can say there sure are lots of cat blogs and pictures of cats out there on blogs being enjoyed by blog readers! That burger looks just like I like them.. :) No wonder you didn't gain any weight, we all been shivering our calories off!!! So over winter!!! The wall shelf is a must Cheryl!
ReplyDeleteOMG-I am laughing right out loud here-about NOT taking pictures of your cats and putting them on your blog. What? Is she worried about her kitty being CATnapped and held for ransom? Are you SURE she wasn't kidding? lol Let's send her a crazy lady starter kit full of kittens!
ReplyDeleteI would probably paint that shelf IF YOU GET IT. It doesn't look like fine furniture so I wouldn't feel "bad" about putting a brush to it. I have a couple pieces I am loathe to paint but know they will never be used otherwise.
Hope you have a great Wednesday. We are at NINE below right now but expecting a heat wave of 10 degrees for a high. whooo hooo...xo Diana
I might as well shut down if I can't post about cats. They are what brings humour to my day. I'd like to know what she posts about....probably something silly. ;-b
ReplyDeleteLove the wall shelf and I would leave it as is. I always look for cupboards and shelves when I am 'hunting'. Enjoy it and do post more kitty photos. Hugs, Deb
wow. now i am scratching my head and wondering if it is ok to blog about my dogs..actually, the majority of the blogs i visit every day post cats, dogs, chinchillas, pigs, chickens, donkey's, horses, goats.. and a couple that are all about wild life photos... wonder how she would feel about that
ReplyDeleteyou are right, we all blog for different reasons and the best way to grab me is to live on a ranch/farm or pet pics... your dinner is my most favorite food of all and what i choose for special occasions.
got get the shelf.. i like the idea of white with wood showing through, and also red... thanks for the morning laugh at the toe biting kitten
Morning Cheryl, such a sweet toe biter, ah, Kitty.....You better go back and buy that shelf, love it, Blessings Francine.
ReplyDeleteLove the picture of your toe biter lol . Too funny about some peoples rules and regulations ... good grief 80 percent of my blog is about my animals and animal pictures , to each his own I guess . YUM .. loving that comfort food !
ReplyDeleteWell I just hate starting my day with a bite! Fioré is very good at that trick!
ReplyDeleteNo cats? Who made her the Blogdom police? To each her own!
Sooo..did you get the shelf? I like shelves like that and can see it both ways.
Hope that your doc doesn't read your blog!
Well I like pictures of your cat. I like to see pictures of any animal. besides, your blog is yours to do as you please. I really like to see others' blogs and I read them....it is just something to do . It gives us things to think about. Hope you can lose that 1/2 pound girl. LOL xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteYour kitty is beautiful. She has so lovely eyes :) I like to see pictures of any animal.
ReplyDeleteYour blog is wonderful !
Greetings
Well, for goodness sakes. Ignore the cranky blogger and continue with what you love! You can delete comments on your blog. You are still in control! Hooray! Your kitties are so sweet; I had four some years back, and they were raised with a golden retriever, a bloodhound, and a shepherd/Rottweiler mix. Mine were Ginger Victoria, Buckwheat Elizabeth (Elizabeth was my mother's name), Spanky Hilliard (Hilliard was Rick Nelson's mother's maiden name),and Trubble's Cumming (misspellings intentional). I wish there'd been blogging back then. I'd have used this saying: Dogs have owners, but cats have staff. Have a blessed day!
ReplyDeleteI love that your doctor ordered you to go shopping.
ReplyDeleteAnd, show me your cats.
The blogging world can be just as "catty" as the real world and you will run across people who want to run things. It's your blog so do what you want.
Your kitty is cute, little devil that she is. I see no good reason why you shouldn't post a picture of cats. LOVE the wall shelf. The food looks yummy.
ReplyDeleteHi Cheryl! Thanks so much for answering my question! I'm sorry that one is closing. I've been a few times. Yes, go back and get the shelf! Normally I don't like painting over pretty wood, but it would be very pretty white or red. According to your doctor, I get lots of exercise! That's good, but I've definitely gotten fluffier this winter. Hope you don't have bad weather this weekend. Stay safe! Twyla
ReplyDeletebrowsing antique stores... hmmmm... walking? :)
ReplyDeletebtw, good for you for only gaining 1/2 a lb!
ReplyDeleteYour meal is making me hungry.Perhaps it is a good thing that I have adore mouth and a burger would be hard to eat right now.:)
ReplyDeleteLOL no cats or critters ? That blogger will have to explain to MY Cat why she can't photo bomb just about any sewing etc post that I do. And then she would hate all the birds and squirrels that she sees here ....she'd positively shudder! :)
ReplyDeleteAny animal lover loves to see other people's pets etc. Keep on ignoring her! :)
Get that adorable shelf/cabinet and dress her up in RED...or turquoise...turk is my new favorite color. I am about to paint the inside of a black hutch in a very light, washed, turquoise and then fill the hutch with fluffy white towels...putting it in my vanity room...Oh, I just can't wait..:)
ReplyDeletexoxo
Root beer floats, yes...I've never even heard of a pepsi float? That good huh? Hmmmm.
ReplyDeleteLove the wall cabinet. I would think white would be best and 'stress it'. Maybe add some gold handles.
It's great to be able to follow doc's orders to walk around the flea markets and antique stores. I'll 'drink to that'!!
And as for the blogger who states animals/cats/kids shouldn't be on a blog? Who really cares what she thinks is my thoughts.
So, what is HER blog like anyway? Photos of text?
And the kitty....ya, I have one like that too, but some days, she tries to lay on my head and lick my hair and try to chew on my scalp!!! Try that at 3 a.m.
[I am writing a novel here...I best let you go back to your pepsi float and burger!!]
Nothing beats a hamburger in my opinion...just cannot beat them. My favorite float is butter pecan with coke or pepsi!
ReplyDeleteSome of my favorite bloggers are cat ladies, you included!! I enjoy blogs that are versatile, nature, wildlife, pets, birds, food, travels....if you write with enthusiasm and illustrate with images, I'm in!!
ReplyDeleteThere are so many wonderful blogs to follow, I only read and comment on those I feel connected to. And I really try to NOT exclude anyone!!
Weird comment for that blogger to make. My kitties are part of my family, and therefore, part of my blog!
ReplyDeleteYAY for getting doctor's permission to go antiquing!
Um....totally not sure of the cat comment...I LOVE pics of cats and any animals...they are a natural part of our lives! I hope all is well with you...comfort food is important...cheers! xoxo Jen
ReplyDeleteSounds like a smart doc to me . . . antique shop walking!
ReplyDeleteLove the little wall piece, I think red would be a great color, better hurry back . . . before someone else grabs it.
Oh how I loved this one. I do think it is sad that someone would not want to see your great cat and bird pictures.
ReplyDeleteI hope you got the wall shelf; I loved it. I think it would be great white or red.
Ok, I really liked your physician visit. I loved your plan for exercising. We must be kindred spirits because I like to have a really great meal just like yours. It's kind of celebration time.
Blessings for the smiles today.
My Abby does that now and then. Comes up to me all sweet and purring and gives me a chomp on the arm. Go figure!! A cat thing!
