We've had a couple of beautiful fall days. Yesterday was such a busy day that I've not had time to visit many of my blog friends. I'll get by as soon as I can! First up was a doctor's appointment which thankfully turned out good. I'll just say this...those pesky hiatal hernias can really play havoc with your system and your nerves, too. I've had one for many years and it usually behaves itself.
After the appointment and running a few errands, it was off to another garage sale in a nearby town. It was a huge sale held in a building at the fairgrounds. I found this Jim Shore angel for only 5 bucks and a couple of books. My daughter took off work a little early and came over and she bought many useful items for her new home. They haven't been unloaded so I didn't get photos.
After the garage sale shopping, we stopped for supper and then I drove to the Lookout Point at the park that overlooks the Missouri River. I thought there might be a nice sunset and I wasn't disappointed. It was a beautiful evening.
Isn't there a TV show called Flip This House? Well, we have decided to start our own series and call it Flip OFF This House! lol! Well, that is how we feel some days. See the kitchen in our fixer upper? That's a before shot. It doesn't look so bad, but some of the other rooms need a lot of work yet. I won't even show the bathroom until we have an After photo. The gas range has already been removed and we'll replace it with an electric range. BG still has to do some wiring for that. We'll probably replace the kitchen sink and the painting has yet to be done. Should we take out the ceiling fan and replace it with just a light fixture?
My son was talking to BG last night on the phone about the ballgame that the Cardinals ended up losing. He asked my hubby what he had gotten for me yesterday. BG said why would he get me something? Son reminded him that it was Bosses Day! lol! Cute.
Linking to Tanya's Willy Nilly Friday 5.
Happy Friday to you!
xo Cheryl
boss's day. haha! love your sunset shots and your beautiful autumn tree, too!
ReplyDeleteYou always pick up the greatest bargains. I love to look at these kinds of sells. I think the kitchen looks great. I like the fan; because we use them a lot in different rooms. Your pictures are lovely and the fall season is so beautiful. I just had lunch with Barb recently and she loves following you as do I.
ReplyDeleteBlessings for you!
Your son is a clever boy!!:) I have a hiatal hernia as well and it seems that fall is when it decides to act up. As for the ceiling fan...I would give it a good cleaning and leave it. Kitchens get so hot when you cook or when you have guests at the holidays.
ReplyDeleteCheryl, That cracked me up about your husband and son.. wise guys. LOL. I loved your sunset photo, wow. Hope you have a wonderful fun weekend. xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeletei loved that show when we had cable ... i love anything with house design or decor. too creative! ( :
ReplyDeletehappy weekend. enjoy your fall. leaves, acorns & great temps here.
flip off this house lol, that's too funny...gorgeous photos and i love your angel you found! i think i'd keep the fan in the kitchen for stuffy days! a friend sent me this cute video about missouri and i thought of you http://www.movoto.com/mo/missouri-awesome/ thank you for linking and have a great weekend!!
ReplyDeleteI love the angel; I have a couple of his angels and I leave them all year….Sounds like you got a really good deal….Your fall shots are great. The leaves seem to be pretty everywhere. Don't worry about your house. You'll get it just like you like it before you know it….
ReplyDeletethat kitchen looks really good to me. better than mine.. i love flip this house, the show and rehab addict. to watch not to do... the angel is beautiful... love those leaves...
ReplyDeleteWow--your colors are MUCH prettier than ours so far. Today we have sunshine for the first time in a LONG time.. SO---I went outside to get some pictures... I was disappointed... The colored leaves we had before are now DOWN --after our winds and storms of this past week. All that is left is GREEN... Maybe they will turn and be pretty sometime --but not yet.
ReplyDeleteI thought your before photo of the fixer-upper was an AFTER photo... The house looks nice in THAT photo... Oh Well---Guess I need to be there to see it up close and personal.
Your sunset photos are TREMENDOUS... Wow---thanks!!!!!
Sorry about your hernia. Don't you need to get that thing fixed???
Hugs,
Betsy
Your fall colors are so pretty- ours haven't really started yet. I haven't ever seen a ceiling fan in a kitchen..so I don't know. I'm thinking of grease that always seems to get on everything- if you fry a lot. I hope the hiatal hernia doesn't bother you for another long time..I have one too.

ReplyDeleteI can't believe you still have green in your trees yet!
The scenery photos are beautiful.
Your kitchen is looking good. I would replace the ceiling fan, but then I don't live in MO anymore, you might need it there! My Dad always hated a fan over the table even in MO. He claimed it cooled his food too fast.
Take care and I hope your Dr reports are all good. Kimberly
Love your photos and I think the kitchen looks pretty cute now. I love a fan in the kitchen.. :) And the family room, and the porch, and the living room, and all the bedrooms!!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautifulFall photo, so pretty..love the kitchen, nice and big....Blessings Francine.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos! I know what you mean about the hiedal hernia. (sp?) I have one also. It CAN be a problem! So funny about your "FLIP OFF THIS HOUSE" comment. I think it would make an interesting show. :-)
ReplyDeleteNow that is fall color. We are still working on brown. That sunset is stunning. Something to get lost in. Like how the kitchen looks out on a deck and I'd have kept the gas stove. Mine is great when the power goes out.
ReplyDeleteLOL- About your son. Great photos for your Friday 5. The kitchen does look pretty good. You don't like gas, huh? I love it. I feel like I have so much more control with my heat source with the gas. I think it is all what you are used to ...plus we are all natural gas so that makes it easy for us.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the bathroom! xo Diana
Hi Cheryl,
ReplyDelete1. You sure have some nice fall color!
2. Nifty angel.
3. Great sunset!
4. Man oh man you need to see OUR kitchen, count your blessing!
5. 46 years ago I learned who the boss was and life has been great ever since.

The kitchen looks ok to me from the pic. Bet you see more. I would say "out with the ceiling fan" and replace with a nice fixture. Not much for ceiling fans and surprised there is one in the kitchen. Like the doors to the deck, I think this room will look very nice with your newer additions.
ReplyDeleteSorry about your hiatal hernia . . . they can make life miserable!
Looking forward to see the continued progress on the house.
Liked the father son, son father banter.
Your sunset photos are just gorgeous! That kitchen doesn't look bad at all. In Oklahoma we have to have ceiling fans in every room. They probably aren't the most attractive decor but a necessity.

Love the pretty sunsets. That Jim Shore Angel is priceless, And only $5. What a wonderful find.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all.....gorgeous photos! What a fabulous find...a Jim Shore angel for 5.00? wow! Fixing up houses can be a really good thing...especially if you have the talents to do the work yourself. You all will be thrilled when you finish this great project. don't you just love Fall?
ReplyDeleteI love watching a beautiful sunset. You got great pictures.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Autumn skies!!!
ReplyDeleteI love Jim Shore works of art....I have some Halloween figurines and a couple of Christmas. My newest is 2 by 2...and angel with Noah's Ark theme. Love your pink angel. Great price!!!
Gorgeous fall colors and the sky and view of the river is just stunning.. Lovely images.. Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteI like ceiling fans so I would leave it or replace it with another one that will go with the decor when you decide on it! That is a great Jim Shore Angel and what a buy! :)
ReplyDeleteI don't think that kitchen looks too bad!
ReplyDeleteBosses Day! That is a funny one. I like that view from your kitchen. It looks like there's a nice deck with a view out there?
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful photos Cheryl! And what a bargin on the Jim Shore angel! I have a few of his pieces and the angel is gorgeous! Thank you for sharing bits of a beautiful autumn where you live!
ReplyDeleteA beautiful random list! I too love Jim Shore.
ReplyDeleteThere's been some beautiful sunsets lately for sure in MO. I've often flipped off my own house. Ha ha.
